Are You Going in Circles? Time to Recalibrate!

Does it feel like you’re going in circles? Are you making goals but not hitting them? Are you busy but not accomplishing much? Maybe you need to recalibrate!

Going in circlesFollowing the pattern

I lived in the Boulder, Colorado area for 5 ½ years. It was a great place for the directionally challenged, since the mountains were to the west. If you ever got turned around, you just looked for the mountains and you could determine which road to take. In addition, the streets were either alphabetical or numerical and the street signs were large and hung in the middle of the road, next to the traffic lights for easy visibility.

Unlike traffic circles (aka roundabouts), this system was very linear and easy to follow. You just followed the pattern and your instincts. No GPS needed.

If you feel like you’re going in circles, it may be due to the following:

1) You don’t have a clear pattern or direction to follow.
2) You’re getting sidetracked, going down the wrong roads, and wasting time.
3) You’re not able to see the signs. Your visibility is blocked by something and you don’t trust your instincts.

In order to get back on track, you need to recalibrate. Take a step back and ask yourself:

1) Is the road I’m on going to take me closer to my goal or dream?
2) Do I have a plan to get there? If not, why not?
3) Am I getting sidetracked and taking too many detours?
4) What’s blocking me from seeing clearly and making the right choices?
5) Do I feel confident about my abilities and direction?

If you’re a creative type or an entrepreneur, it can be hard to stay on track. There are too many options and roads to take. It’s easy to fall prey to the “Shiny Object Syndrome” and either switch direction, jump at too many opportunities at once, or start something only to abandon it halfway.

Drumming can actually calm you down and help you focus. Clarity and insights can appear when you drum on a regular basis. It also keeps your stress levels down. Other techniques to balance yourself, remove blockages, and recalibrate include deep breathing, meditation, yoga, hiking or walking in nature, Reiki, tapping (EFT), massage, acupressure, acupuncture, and essential oils.
