Taking a mental or physical break may be just what you need to get your creative juices flowing and to give your body and brain a much needed rest. This is especially true for entrepreneurs and creative types who tend to have 1,001 ideas in their brains at any given time.
Time to chill out!
I’ve been feeling a bit frazzled lately and then I remembered these tips from one of our family’s favorite movies, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off:
1. All work and no play…is really boring!
Taking a break or some time off can actually boost creativity and focus. You may see things differently and have a fresh perspective.
2. Take some risks!
Ok, so maybe you never wanted to jump onto a parade float and sing a German tune like Ferris, but push past your comfort zone and try something new! If you always play it safe, you’re never experience growth and change.
3. Stop and smell the roses!
Count your blessings, no matter how small. Try to find something positive each day. Go out into nature for some inspiration (and much needed Vitamin D!). Don’t hide behind your computer all day.
4. Don’t obsess about past mistakes!
You can’t change the past but you can learn from it. Keep your eyes on the prize and move forward. Enjoy where you are at this point in your life.
Like Ferris says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. ”
