5 Tips to Help You Get Unstuck

Very frustrated angry woman screamingAre things not lining up as you had hoped? Does it feel like you’re being blocked and doors just aren’t opening? Maybe you tried something new and it fell flat. Or maybe you put a lot of time and effort into a workshop or performance and only 2 people showed up. Don’t pull your hair out! Read on:

Road ClosedRoadblocks and detours

I see this all the time. People who have been plugging away for months or even years in their business, career, or with a special project and they’re still not where they want to be. They say things like:

a) “Why isn’t this working?!” or
b) “I’m smart. Why can’t I figure this out?!”

I remember this phase and yes, I said those things! I kept adding on more activities and was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I thought I was doing all the right things.

I blogged, I wrote newsletters, I did social media out the wazoo, and I did tons of free talks, workshops, and drumming events for “the exposure” (Yeah, right!). My followers and comments increased but my income did not. What was wrong?

Well, it usually boils down to this: You need to get out of your head and take a stand for your dream! You also need to get out of your own way!

Adjusting the focus

Instead of wasting time worrying about what’s not working, why not give thanks for what is? Here are some tips to help you gain clarity and help you reset your mindset:

1) Pat yourself on the back for any milestones you’ve achieved, big and small.
2) Take a breath and remember it’s not about you. It’s about your clients or fans.
3) What’s the big picture? What’s the vision or mission you’ve been given?
4) Listen and be willing to make adjustments when needed (Don’t ask 16 different people though! Listen to see what resonates with your heart.)
5) Hit the pause button! Take time to reflect or do something physical! Here are some more tips in this quick video:

How therapeutic drumming can help

When clients seem stuck, I will get out my drums. I will then ask them to explain how they feel by using their drum. What they’re experiencing is in every fiber of their being, along with stress. They may also be experiencing some triggers from their past. It’s very evident by the way they drum.

Once they understand that it goes way deeper than they thought, it’s time to reset their rhythm and their mindset. Therapeutic drumming can do all of this and more. It’s fast, safe, effective, and backed by scientific research and established protocols. It’s also fun and very freeing!

Roadblocks and detours often lead to an even better path. Has this ever happened to you? Feel free to leave a comment below!
