Going from Stressed to Blessed

Stressed out woman

Stress affects everyone from time to time and entrepreneurs and creatives are no exception. Unfortunately stress can create or exacerbate many health issues such as increased blood pressure, headaches, body aches and pains, ulcers, colitis, asthma, diabetes, and depression.

Many people assume that when they become self-employed, their stress will end. However, stress levels tend to max out for entrepreneurs who are trying to juggle too many plates or constantly worry where the next client will come from.

Contents under pressure

Has this ever happened to you? You’re tooling along fine and then, BAM! Something hits you from left field. This month, it was several things in a row.

Having one thing happen is generally no big deal. Having several happen can bring you to your knees and cause you to ask God: “What the heck?!” It’s ok to want to scream or cry but if you want to move forward, you need to keep things in perspective. And keep the faith.

Ask yourself these questions:

1) What can I learn from this?
2) What can I do about this?

I did all I could to remedy the situations. But after that, I had to hand the rest over to God. By doing so, my mind was no longer cluttered and I found peace. I remembered that things could have been much worse. And I counted my blessings.

As we enter the holiday season, it’s easy to feel stressed. Here’s an exercise that will help you reduce those feelings and develop an attitude of gratitude. If you like this video, please hit the “like” button and subscribe!

Clearing the clutter

Clearing physical or digital clutter can actually make you feel lighter and helps you gain clarity.
Here are some other things you can do to help you reduce stress:

* Doodling, drawing, or coloring
* Taking a walk and observing nature
* Sitting near water (Moving water works better for me.)
* Physical activity such as running, swimming, biking, etc.
* Playing an instrument (especially drums and here’s why)
* Praying and journaling
* Volunteering

Time to rise up!

What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s right when you feel the most frustrated and feel like giving up, that things begin to shift. It’s called “the breakdown before the breakthrough.” Experiencing several setbacks can cause you to want to throw in the towel. Or…to dust yourself off and rise up.

If you or someone you know needs help, I’ll be offering some new talks and programs based on my latest book, Rise Up & Rock: Activating Your God-Given Purpose.

It’s not time to give up. It’s time to Rise Up & Rock! Are you ready? Schedule your free call and let’s chat!
