Avoid Holiday Spam: 4 Nice Ways to Connect with Your Clients

Email_imageIt’s December! It’s a time for twinkling lights, festive tunes, holiday cheer, and… tons of spam? I’m not talking about that mysterious glop in a can. I’m talking about all those super-salesy offers from people encouraging me to buy their product, purchase their coaching program, buy their video training, etc., etc. Make it stop!

The “email infomercial”

Some of these people are emailing me 3 times a day, just in case I missed it the first time! Many are apparently using the old sales playbook. This is the school of thought that feels that the more expensive the offer is, the longer the email needs to be (”But wait! There’s more!). It’s like an “email infomercial” (Buy now and we’ll throw in a set of Ginzu knives!). Who has time to read all that?!

Now, unless you want people to unsubscribe from your list, you might want to consider nicer ways to connect with your clients or potential clients. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner, it’s time to kick it “old school”!

Santa Claus Holding Finger to Mouth

1) Send a card or a handwritten note. This can be done throughout the year, not just December.
2) Call to check in. Ask them how things are going and if there’s anything they need. Wish them Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas.
3) Pay it forward! Send someone a lead or a referral and let them know you were thinking of them.
4) Be a secret Santa/Christmas angel! Has someone you know been laid off or is going through hard times? Think of some way to bless them anonymously. Even little things can make a huge impact. I remember being blessed during layoffs and how much fun it was to be a Christmas angel to others.
