One Thing That Can Boost Your Success

It’s a real game changer. It’s something that can boost your success and attract more clients, fans, or followers. Give up? It’s confidence.

This past week, I got to see three people I’ve known for years knock it out of the park. This was so amazing for me to see, especially because all three are introverts. As a former introvert, I can tell you that what all three did took guts. It all starts with…

The decision

There comes a point when you’re tired of hiding your gifts. The pain of not doing what you were born to do becomes too great. Once you make the decision to go for it, you can’t double back. Sure, you might mess up but that’s not the end of the world. It gives you a starting point and you know what you need to do to improve.

I’ve encouraged all three over the years and provided suggestions and feedback. I can’t take credit for where they are now. That came from them…and God. They had to make the decision to take the stage and perform, start a rockin’ business and ministry, or in our son’s case, preach. Yes, he stepped out from behind the drums and delivered the sermon at his church!

When someone totally nails it and has tapped into the gifts they were given, it’s amazing to watch. It’s positively mesmerizing. It’s like time stands still.

Overcoming fear
The one thing that holds people back more than anything is fear. That’s what is underneath all the excuses of why they can’t move forward. It could be fear of failure or even fear of success. Some people let this fear paralyze them.

In order to move forward, it helps to have the following:

1) Strong faith: Fear and faith cannot coexist. Once you realize that it’s not about you, it’s easier to take that big step. It’s about your mission and the gifts God gave you. Stretch yourself! Step outside your comfort zone and see what happens!

2) Trust: You have to trust the process and keep a positive attitude. Even if it doesn’t seem like things are clicking just yet, you need to hold on. Your time will come.

3) Practice: Whether you’re trying something new or improving your skills, you need to hone your chops. This comes with practice. In order to do talks, videos, and podcasts, I had to work really hard so my voice wouldn’t sound like I was a character in the movie, My Cousin Vinny (Yes, I’m an Italian from New Jersey. Fuggetaboutit.)! I accepted feedback (good and bad) and worked to improve my delivery.

All three factors can help you boost your confidence. When you have this, look out! You will be unstoppable!
