What’s Your Genius Zone?

Jumping with paint splattersWhat do you do really well? It may be something that comes naturally to you or something you’ve been trained in. Either way, you can do it, as they say “Like a boss.”

I’ve worked with many people who want to lead with something that is not their strength. That’s all they’re focusing on and, as a result, they’re not moving forward. Clients, jobs, or fans are not lining up. It’s the same when I work with students. They’re making things harder than they need to be.

The reason for this is that they’re not recognizing their “genius zone.” I’m equally guilty of this. When I first started Rock the Next Stage, there were some skills that I wasn’t even mentioning. Why? Because I felt that “Well, everyone can do that!” I eventually realized that, no, everyone can’t.

GuitaristNatural talent

Have you ever met someone who can play an instrument really well with little to no training? They don’t even have to think about it. It just happens. When I used to book, promote, and emcee concerts featuring teen bands, I would tell the audience to brace themselves. I had some kids on my roster who could sing or shred the guitar like nobody’s business. The audience’s jaws would just drop. They didn’t see it coming. It was great.

Now, you don’t have to be a musical prodigy but chances are, you have something really special to offer. It may be something that you discount or aren’t even aware of. This could be something that can be the foundation of a business or a future career. People will gladly pay for you to do the things that they have no idea how to do or just don’t have the time to figure out.

Some of the things that my fellow entrepreneurs need are web designers, graphic designers, virtual assistants, social media gurus, content writers, bloggers, marketing and SEO experts, photographers, and videographers. If you wanted some extra contract work, it would be easy to find.

How about you?

What is that you can figure out in no time flat that boggles everyone else’s minds? What talent or skill do you bring to the table that makes you stand out? You were given those gifts for a reason. Don’t hide them! Rock what you’ve got! If you need help, just let me know.
